Revenge is a dish best served pink

? /Journal Star:/ Latest strip-club plan calls for a gaudy pink building
/With their original plans for an upscale gentlemen’s club recently
dashed by the City Council, Scott Wood and Dave Remington say
instead they’ll open a gaudy strip club catering to the
18-to-20-year-old crowd.
“For some reason, everyone thinks the club’s not going to open,”
Wood said Monday at a news conference at his and Remington’s other
business, Richard’s On Main, 311 Main St. “Everybody forgets we have
the adult-use license.”
Wood and Remington still plan to open a North Peoria strip club at
7805 N. University St. even though the City Council changed the
adult-use ordinance in October to prohibit liquor at any new
adult-oriented business. They hope to open sometime next month.
“It’s common knowledge that the council gambled on this decision, think-
ing it would dissuade us from opening. It’s a gamble they lost,” the
partners said in a news release. “And they will be reminded of this
every time they pass this pink neon monster they created.”
Added Remington: “We originally planned on having a very
subdued-looking building with simply a sign outside that said,
‘Elliott’s.’
“And now our consultants have advised us to make the building gaudy
and neon and pink to draw attention to it.”/
I would suggest a neon sign reading: “Hey Kids! Nudity here! Come on in!
Teenagers welcome! We host high school graduation parties!”
Then we’ll see how fast they get their liquor license.
