Bad news for Thetford

Third District Peoria City Council member Gale Thetford is in hot water
with the firefighters
union over her apparent switch on the Fire Station 11 matter. Thetford
is among the council members who favor telling to department that it the
station is to remain open, they will have to find cuts elsewhere.

But then, maybe she isn’t. This is an article by Jennifer Davis, whose
reporting I no longer completely trust.

In any case, I stopped trusting Thetford a long time ago. I used to live
in the Third District and voted for her. When she backed David Joseph’s
Mid Town Plaza project — which kicked out a bunch of homeowners so they
could build a strip mall — I knew I had backed a loser. Thetford talks
about neighborhoods, but it’s all talk.
