This could /easily/ be about the /Journal Star/. Sometimes I think the
editor board gets stoned on ditchweed before every meeting.
Take this edit
example. A restaurant closes and it’s because there isn’t enough
taxpayer supported businesses in downtown Peoria? Good Lord! Restaurants
open and close practically every day in the Peoria area. Restaurants are
extremely risky ventures in any location, even when the economy is
booming. But the brainiacs who decide the official opinion on Peoria’s
newspaper of record uses /this particular closing/ to pimp for its
favorite cause: the downtown museum of Peoria history.
Using scarce taxpayer funds to support development projects that compete
with existing privately-owned competing businesses is the stupidest
policy imaginable. But, it is the policy of the City of Peoria and one
echoed by the /Journal Star/.
