Gays have a Constitutional right to get married

That’s not me saying that. That’s President Bush, by implication, when
he says we need an Amendment to ban gay marriage. Via Jeff Trigg

I am a filthy capitalist

I’m running Blogads now. I fully expect everyone I know who is selling
anything to buy an ad. They are dirt cheap, by the way. But one ad pays
for almost a full month of bandwidth. I’m hoping to sell enough to pay
my DSL bill.

Ouch

Rodger Schultz has exceeded his bandwidth for
the month.
Been there, done that.
He has my sympathies. Rodger was one of the first bloggers to link to
me, back in the billdennis.net days. I’m sorry to hear about his problems.
Rog, drop me a line and let me know what’s happening. I’m worried.

Is there a serial killer in Peoria?

That’s the question Pam Adams put into print
. With five dead bodies,
it’s a question a lot of people have been asking
/The bodies of dead black women are showing up on the side of county
roads with alarming regularity. This hasn’t happened since the early
1990s, [...]

Better diversity through counting faces

I found this over at Romenesko .
It seems that the /San Francisco Chronicle/ looked at the faces pictured
on its pages, and counted them according to skin color
.
There were more pics of white people than minorities. The hand-wringing
begins.
/Why should it matter? To Donald Mark, who remembers when there were
[...]

Company’s coming …

… so I’ve got to straighten thinks up around here. Or as my dad would
say: “just police the area a little bit.”
I’ve finally convinced another Peorian to join this site. Her name is
Natlie, and if that name sounds familiar, it’s because she’s my niece
and I may have mentioned her once or twice. I’ll let her [...]

The sour taste of government

? Journal Star: Lawmakers hope to take heat off potluck dinners

/Ruth Steinhilber didn’t know she was breaking state health codes
when she organized a public potluck dinner for senior citizens in

But after Woodford County Health Department officials told her she

Politics and journalism at the movies

I saw “Welcome to Mooseport” the other day. Funny movie. Gene Hackman
never sleepwalks his way through /anything/, which he could have easilly
done with this movie. His performance of the former
President-turned-small-town-mayoral-candidate was surprisingly deep.
This was a politician who didn’t like what a career in politics had
turned him into. Ray Romano and his New Jersey accent were [...]

Newspaper, correct thyself

You know all that grief
I’ve been giving the /Journal Star/ because publisher John McConnell is
a member of the secretive Peoria Civic Federation, the group that plans
to have secret meetings to debate how tax money should be allocated for
the good of the people?
Now, Jennifer Davis writes
that *he’s not a member
after all*.
[...]

Just because it’s mudslinging doesn’t mean it isn’t true

/George W. Bush?s presidential campaign told John Kerry it ?does not
condone? any effort to impugn his patriotism but asserted that the
