Shaun Livington is drafted by the L.A. Clippers

June 24, 2004 in Local

Well … so much for his hopes to join a /professional/ basketball team.

Heh heh heh.

/Livingston led
Peoria Central to Class Double-A state titles the last two years,
and was named Illinois’s Mister Basketball last season. He’s the
fourth Illinois Mister Basketball to go straight to the NBA from
high school, joining Kevin Garnett, Darius Miles and Eddy Curry.

The six-seven, 175-pound Livingston averaged 18 points, six rebounds
and five-point-seven assists last season. He had 27 points and ten
rebounds in the Class Double-A title game./

This year, Shaun played the Woodruff High School Warriors. Next year,
he’ll be playing the Detroit Pistons. That’s a big adjustment.

A man-on-the-street interview on WMBD 31 said he should have gone to
college because education is “paramount” and there’s always time after
college to “play sports.”

Somehow, I think the $2.5 million that Livingston will earn will make up
for passing up an education at Duke University.

I still say there’s an strange resemblance between Shaun and another
famous Peorian : Richard
Pryor.
