They can have my blog when they pull it from my cold dead fingers

March 31, 2005 in Citizen Journalism

You’ve gotta be friggin’ kidding me. The City of San Francisco is considering requiring bloggers to register with the city, and to endure a list of regulations and audits.

Heh.

It’s unenforceable, of course, thanks to the nature of the Internet. The government can’t stop spammers, but they think they can track down and regulate bloggers.

Idiots.

Of course, the courts will toss out this nonsense (even if it needs to be done on appeal), provided we bloggers do enough agitating to make sure they can’t roll over us.

But there’s entirely too much of this nonsense being seriously discussed by people who should know better, having graduated from the eighth grade.

Hat tip, IlliniPundit.

Well, if you’re worried that the sheep-like citizens of your fine city might get their news from somewhere beside the San Francisco Chronicle, you’d desperately try to control blogs, too. :-)

    Remember, Bill - that’s in the 9th Circus…..

From all cities, San Francisco is the one that comes up with this.

    Something just doesn’t make sense.

Maybe it is a good thing I’m moving to Cancun.
