Peoria Pundit endorsements
There’s an election tomorrow.
Some people may not be aware of that.
The Journal Star has a story that briefly describes the races and issues in Peoria and surrounding communities.
But frankly, if you need this story to catch up on what’s been going on, you are probably a lost cause anyway, and you probably should consider staying home and letting people who have been paying attention vote.
If you intend to vote anyway, follow my lead. Vote for Jim Ardis for Mayor, Barbara Van Auken for second district city council person or for Bob Manning in the third. Bill Spears and Pat Nichting are locks in the 4th and 5th, respectively. I don’t have strong feelings either way in the 1st district. Clyde Gulley consistently votes with Dave Ransburg’s “progressive” wing, but Greg Banks hasn’t impressed me. Still, my choice for that district, Frank Lewis, lost in the primary and has endorsed Banks, so he’s probably the lesser of two evils. Still, I don’t think Gulleys heart is in the wrong place. He’s just easily mislead, I think.
I don’t feel strongly either way about David Gorenz or Alma Brown in the Peoria School District 150 race. Sadly, both candidates seem to think finances and not student disciple is the most important issue. I’ve seen Alma Brown yard signs next to Van Auken and Ardis signs, so that might be a good indication. I dunno. It’s a toss-up.
Vote against the water company buyout. Vote against the advisory referendum urging a ban on nudity in nightclubs. Vote in favor of the increase in the agricultural extension.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Signed,
Bill Dennis
