Gone apartment hunting
April 8, 2005 in William Dennis
The folks are moving out in a month or two, and I’m not going to want to stay here in this beat-up old house any longer.
So, I’ll be looking for an apartment. I know I’m going to have to do some hunting myself, but I’m not above asking my readers to be my eyes and ears for me.
I’m looking to stay in the 2nd District, or even move to the 1st District. The place needs to be modestly priced, but I’m not going to live in a building with gangbangers or drug dealers, no matter how cheap the rent is.
I don’t need much room. A large studio apartment would be perfect. I will need access to cable for high-speed Internet. I would prefer utilities be furnished.
And I am going to need room for books. Lots of books. On-street parking is OK, although I would prefer off-street to guarantee I have a place to park every day.
I’m a non-drinker and a non-smoker, and I have no pets.

Hey Bill-Chase has his dirty fingers in a few different realty companies. Rent with him.

Bill there are way too many caveats with Chase. I guarantee you don’t want to be tied to him AT ALL. Call 686-0092, and ask for Craig. He is on vacation right now, but he will be back in a week or so. There should be someone at the office on M, W, F, this week though.

Bill: there are way too many caveats with Rob. Funny how you set someone up with a place to stay when they are coming out of a drug treatment center, and not only do they leave without paying all that they said they would pay, but they then complain about the person that took them in when no-one else wanted them.

But Rob, Chase’s places have an added bonus-free cockroaches! What’s the problem?

Bill,
I’m sending you this website that lists a wide variety of apartments in Peoria. Perhaps it will give you a few options to choose from.

Bill, theres only one place and one place only that I would recommend. It’s Timberbrook Apartments in the 100 block of E. Hines off of Knoxville. Hines is 1 block south of Glen on Knoxville. I lived there for 3 years. Only major problem I had was it took them 2 days to repair a water heater once. Other than that it was just minor problems like the food disposal not working and such. Great after hours service. Very police oriented manager, was cautious about what going on. My building had hardly any “loud music” residents. Great snow removal and grounds maintenance. Parking lot parking. About $415 for a 1 bedroom Apt. My utilities was only about $25-40 a month. Just an all around great place to live.
