The Rockford Register Star has finally gotten around to printing Chris Kaergard’s massive missive about the influence of blogs on Illinois politics.
The bad news is that while Chris interviewed me for the piece, his editors apparently decided to cut that part. I’m not going to say I’m not disappointed.* It’s understandable, and I knew in advance it would happen. It was a long article, and I blog about local politics more than I do about state politics. Why do Rockford readers give a tinker’s damn what I have to say about Peoria City Hall?
I have the feeling, though, that if I had bothered to make one single post about Alan Keyes lesbian daughter and her blog, I would have gotten a mention. Much of the Kaergard’s article focuses on how bloggers covered that while the mainstream media didn’t. I didn’t blog about it because I simply didn’t care.
The good news, however, is that the Register Star published a list of Illinois bloggers, and I made the cut, as did the anonymous Willy Nilly and Jeff Trigg’s Random Act of Kindness. It seems to me to be a good mix of liberal, conservative and those who work both sides of the fence.
* I guess I’m just a link whore.

At least you got listed…it’s interesting to note that one of the top blogs (per TTLB) is missing from the list (no, not mine, though I would be in the top 15% of the TTLB universe), the excellent Blackfive-who is ranked at 30 the last time I checked. And Spoons who is ranked at 209 is no slouch either…..naaaa the Register Star has no agenda. (What, you’re saying I’m biased too? Yeppers, but then I don’t pretend to be something I am not.)
