Fax: Katrina fundraiser on the Riverfront

A street festival of New Orleans-style food and music will raise funds for the people and the region affected by Hurricane Katrina. “Toast for the Gulf Coast” is Thursday, September 29, and will feature food vendors, live music, and entertainment. Local artists, including Lonnie Stewart, and area merchants have donated items that will be auctioned off during the event.
Admission is $10. Patrons will receive ten tickets for samples of the food of their choice. Vendors serving New Orleans-style dishes include The Big Easy, J, J. Ryan’s, Rizzi’s on State, Kellcher’s and Rhodell Brewery.
Celebrity bartenders will include Mayor Jim Ardis and several Peoria City Council members.
Proceeds will be divided equally between the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Peoria whose goal is to rebuild a Boys and Girls Club in the Gulf region.
