Today is the day.
There are no motions pending. The city administration says that it will enforce Judge John Barra’s order to close the Grandview Hotel. New owner Chase Ingersoll is out of town. Some of the residents imply they won’t leave on their own.

First: It’s been pointed out to me that not everyone living next to the Grandview Hotel lives in an expensive home. I’ve sort of implied — actually stated outright — that the city is sucking up to the rich by closing the Grandview. That’s not accurate, and I apologize.

About 70 soldiers from Galesburg’s Second Battalion, 123rd Field Artillery unit are expected to arrive in Fort Dix, New Jersey, on January 1. They’ll then fly into Quad City International Airport in Moline on January 1. The soldiers have been stationed in Iraq since November 2004.
