Another anti-blog newspaper? Big surprise
Marie, the delightful Moveable Type maven who runs the Disarranging Mine blog, is taking issue with the anti-blog stance of the State Journal-Register. She takes issue with the Springfield, IL newspaper’s dismissive attitude that blogs are simply not as reliable as newspapers.
It might come as no surprise, but the SJ-R is owned by Copley Press, the same California-based chain that also owns Peoria’s newspaper of record. While some of my most loyal readers are Journal Star employees — judging by my referal logs — there also are several well known Luddites on the staff who love taking pot shots at blogs.
So perhaps the attitude runs in the corporate family.
And while you are visiting Marie’s site, tell her you love her spiffy new theme.

maybe it’s because blogs don’t need to worry about fact-checking or being completely accurate.
The JS has been known to make errors, too. Sometimes they even run corrections.
so do blogs
I run corrections. I don’t mean to get snippy here, but the JS isn’t as pure as the driven snow when it comes to failing to correct errors.
Let’s face it, any dinkus with an internet connection can have a blog. Blogs are far and away more infested with biased perspective and hear-say than are most newspapers.
Get over it “newsie bloggers”, you are not members of the media, you are citizens with opinions and internet connections.
And Bill, you don’t have enough bandwidth to run all of the corrections you need to make.

I don’t claim to be a newsie blogger or pseudo media person as yourself. My blog clearly states at the title what it is. You’re just mad because someone made that obese reference in an earlier post.
blogs are just as reliable sources as wikipedia.
Robbieeeeee….time to come in now…….
