Ray LaHood is just one of the GOP big-shots who want Ron Gidwitz to just shut the Hell up about any complaints he has with his opponent in the gubernatorial primary.
To these guys, the primary isn’t about candidates competing for votes by having the best ideas (or about showing your opponent has a bad record). For these guys, the primary is supposed to be a coronation party for Queen Judy and Gidwitz is just peeing in the punch bowl.
LaHood doesn’t want voters all confused with information about Topinka’s voting record (let alogn about the deals she makes for GOP bigshots who owe the state money). As far as he’s concerned, treat the voters like mushrooms: Feed ‘em lots of manure and keep ‘em in the dark.
Thanks to Peoria’s sycophantic media, which reports every word out of LaHood’s mouth like they were stenographers and not reporters, that’s that LaHood has been able to do his entire legislative career. It helps LaHood that the Democrats can’t or won’t pull their collective heads out of their butts to find a candidate with a pulse.
We’re all just a bunch of mushrooms here in River City, being kept in the dark and fed a line a crap.
