I’ve had terrible problems with Insight Broadband service for three weeks. I called ‘em every night for 10 nights and they finally got a guy out here Saturday who knew what he was doing.
They kept saying, “it’s not us, it’s YOUR modem”. I would say, “then why does it work every morning and every afternoon, but not in the evening?” I knew it was a load problem in our old neighborhood. They said, “no, it’s definitely in the house, not outside.” Guess what? After three weeks of being told it was my problem, the service tech Saturday replaced two old splitters…one of the pole across the street and one near the roof of our two story house…and viola! We’ve got internet!
Keep in mind that throughout the entire ordeal we never lost cable and digital cable service, only the internet. He said he replaced (to the best of my recollection) a “600 with a 1 gig” splitter on the house, estimating the old one to be about six years old. “That should handle the increased load.” It did. Problem (knock on wood) has been fixed.
If anyone is having intermittent trouble with Insight BB, I’d recommend you schedule a service call to replace all the external splitters AT THEIR COST, not yours. I didn’t pay a dime.

When a frequent poster writes about citywide wi-fi creating job losses to local providers I’m thinking he’s referring to companies like InsightBB. With service like this, you’d be a fool to cry foul in defense of Insight. They obviously could care less about you.

And SBC and MTCO and…

I’m going to rise to the defense of Insight. I have found their customer service to be excellent. Any Internet service provider will experience outages, sometimes because of situations outside their control. The interruption didn’t last long.
