Regarding Rush

April 29, 2006 in Overset

I spent about about three seconds chortling to myself about Rush Limbaugh’s newest legal troubles. Then I remembered that his legal troubles were the end result of a medical condition, namely a serious addiction to prescription medication.

I wish him the best of luck in his recovery. I wouldn’t wish this problem on anyone, and certainly not on anyone simply because I disagree with his approach to politics.

It seems Bill the media latched on to this just a little too quick, turns out that these are old charges, just finally making it threw our super speedy judical system.

Though, if he is still using, that may explain his to far right thinking of late, namely being a Bush-Bot and not the conservative party mouthpiece…

  2. Jeffrey Summers Says:

I think you should take the word “Independent” out of your tagline. It’s misleading and untrue. I also think it’s time for you to get a new spellchecker. Your’s is broken.

  3. sctobrien Says:

Frankly, the bastard got off too easy. I also believe his addiction is not one always screaming for criminal penalties, however, go back and listen to his past comments about drug addiction - he was quite fond of draconian penalites for everyone else but himself.

Lastly, this supposed tough talking “man” is such a chickenshit that he sent his cleaning lady out to dark parking lots in bad parts of town to do his dope buying for him.

Now, if his experience breeds a little compassion, then all was not for nothing. But I doubt that will happen.

  4. Emtronics Says:

Christ! He got off and only because he is rich. If you buy his medical condition was the reason to be soft, well, most of his medical problems were the result of his abuse, like his hearing loss. Poor Rush.. Just add everything sctobrien posted above here:

  5. Tony Says:

Oh please Emtronics. They let drug offenders off ALL THE TIME. It turns out that Rush, despite being a famous loudmouth, was treated just like most other people caught for the same offenses. It is really easy to assume that he “got off” easier than a regular person, but it isn’t the case.

If he were in Peoria County there probably wouldn’t even have been charges files.

  6. Bill Dennis Says:

I cannot see what benefit it is to Rush or society at large to lock a man up for his first offense for stemming from an addiction to his pain medication.

  7. Chase Ingersoll Says:

It’s because pill addicts help white doctors and pharmeceutical companies money. Crack addicts help black men make a living.

This is my “Rev. Jackson analysis” of the situation.

  8. Emtronics Says:

I base my opinion on what Rush has said about 1st time drug offenders and what he thought should happen to them. I guess he is a hypocrite. Opps, don’t do as I do, do as I say. I guess it’s like the time he said that there will be WMD’s found in Iraq by November (the year we invaded) or he would quit broadcasting. “That’s how sure I am folks!” Yep. No sympathy from me.

  9. Vonster Says:

    1. Didn’t Limbaugh lose most of the weight?

    2. Did Limbaugh run to Canada or England to avoid the draft and protest America?

    3. Isn’t there a difference between getting addicted to prescription painkillers because of a medical consition and smoking crack or shooting herion just for the high?

    4. Isn’t it true that the prosecutor was on a witch hunt and had to settle for this deal because he had no substantial case?

We all know the answers but that won’t affect the BDS crowd. Their minds were already made up. Their Schadenfreude was already locked and loaded.

    1. Whoppee do. So do children in the Sudan
    2. No he avoid the draft with what was a butt boil. Medical excuse
    3. Nope, not when you send your housekeeper out to buy your pills
    4. aren’t they all?? poor rich lean in pain Rush

No, Rush never spouted off about the very same abuse of drugs he is accused of. NOT
