I didn’t realize how much I missed blogger bashes until last night.
A fun time was had by all. Mahkno was there, showing pictures of his newborn daughter. Cute little thing, even if she WAS doing a pretty good impression of Dr. Evil. Jeff Trigg was there with news that the Democrats managed to kick him off the gubernatorial ticket. An appeal is in the works, and there’s a chance they can get some of the state’s draconian (read: “fascist-like”) ballot rules overturned for independents. The hubby and wife team of Seth and Crystal were there sharing home renovation stories with Michael Langley, an occasional commentator who showed up to kvetch.
By the way, it turns out that Langley and Trigg used to be in the Boy Scouts together.
C.J. Summers showed up, just in time to team up with Gary Sandberg (here’s a man who needs a blog) to ridicule my position on the PDC’s toxic waste facility. I held my own.
The lovely Angie showed up briefly. Her better (?) half Rob wasn’t there. Now there’s a man who needs a blog so he can rant as much as he likes.
Pammy, Debbie and Eyebrows bowed out.
Highlight of the night? Barry Bonds failed to hit a home run against the Cubs.
Low point: I insulted two bashers by saying their political party “scared me.” Who am I to talk? I’m a freakin’ libertarian. That’s the party of choice for hookers, gamblers and pot smokers.
Our host Whitey — the Mayor of Sheridan Road — was as gracious as ever. And he still cooks the best bar pizza in Peoria.
Conclusion: We’re going to have to do this more often.

That was fun last night. Maybe next time Eyebrows and Polly can join us. And what about Vonster? He should come to one of those, too.
There’s pizza at Whitey’s? Now I know what I need to order next time.
Man, I wish I could have made it over to see you guys.
Would it be permissable for a “Woodfordite” to kibitz? I worked in P-Town for a while, if that would enhance my chances.
Set up a “regular” every other month thing or something.
Where are the pictures?
Naw, CJ: I’m one of those nasty racist, bigot, facist, Nazi, sexist, homophobe conservatives. We don’t socialize well.
Vonster, you left out that it was a school night for you and you had to be in bed before 9 pm.
Just so you know. I was there. Looked like you all were having a fabulous time. Next time, join me and the guys in back for a game of pool.
Scotty: That’s MISTER Vonster to you.
I would’ve been there if Josh’s mom and sister hadn’t been flying in from Colorado that night. Let’s see… so far, that’s zero Blogger’s Bashes attended, all missed, each for a different reason. What a record!
Holding them more often would at least give me greater odds of making it to one.

Editing comments now, Bill?
I guess you get to hide behind Bill’s leg, Scotty.
Yes. You can always open up comments on your blog. You will be free to accuse anyone of anything … but on YOUR dime, not mine.
But it’s ok for Scotty to….nevermind. Whatever Bill.
Enjoy the cover, Scotty.
And comments ARE open at my blog. Maybe I should edit or “moderate” them like some…whateever.
Vonster,
Right…sure…King of Hiding, I’m sorry, I mean Mr. King of Hiding.
Though I’m just curious, just what are you afraid of by not allowing comments on your blog to be seen?
Evidently they must be pretty bad.
But feel free to direct your comments over at the Briar Patch.
Maybe Bill will edit this but I am not afraid and to suggest so is the same kind of canard people like you use to bash those who aren’t pro-gay. “Oh, you must be homophobic” they say when the truth is the people thay are assailing aren’t AFRAID of homosexuals at all.
Anyway, comments are welcome at any time on my blog and you know it. I believe you yourself used to “moderate” the comments on your site. Rob still does.
Who’s to say how many you deleted???
Once again, try to grasp – I have no obligation to provide a platform for anyone’s comments but my own. If others choose to provide such a platform for critics or supporters, more power to ‘em.
Now, about the park….
I can only imagine the nasty comments you would/get Vonster, some people have no sense of humor, or acceptance of the facts. But if Bill feels he needs to moderate, then he does have that right, as is yours to not allow open commenting, just as long as Bill plays fair on his censorship.
If the next bash is at a dog run, then maybe I could show up, I feel so left out when these events are held in places that discriminate…unless you can prove you are a service animal they won’t let me in
Your comments are not open or active Vonster.
Mahkno: I accept comment via e-mail at vonstercomments@aol.com. Look in profile.
What’s the dif? Nevermind, there isn;t any.
Vonster,
For the last time, here is the difference: You run around and throw all sorts of varying degrees of comments at other bloggers at THEIR sites and elsewhere – some very insulting – for EVERONE to see, and then fail to allow the same in return at your own site.
Emailing a private comment to you is much different than posting a public comment. If you can’t tell the difference, then I doubt any can make it clearer.
You remind me of this one kid I grew up with who would always start these rock fights – you’d be walking by his yard and not see him and then he’d step out from behind this shed and start throwing rocks, walnuts or dirt clods, but as soon as one of us would pick one up to throw back, he’d run inside.
And we are now done with comments on this post. I just deleted a comment that qualified as libel, which I don’t allow.
I’ve also decided to permanently ban a long time commenter. That’s a first for me. Sorry folks.
Arbitrary, Bill!
