Illinois Central College is getting $400,000 less than it expected from the state. A change in the state aid formula favoring remedial education over prep for four-year-college is being blamed. My two cents: I can’t work up much sympathy for ICC. Remedial education is one of the traditional tasks assigned community colleges. So is vocational education, but I don’t think preparing people to be low-paid fry cooks was what was in mind at the time.

    Bill –

I’ve seen some of the foods they have prepared at ICC. Way beyond fry cook stuff. While ICC might not be the holy grail of culinary institutes, it beats getting training at a fast food or chain restaurant.
