STOP THE PRESSES!

This just in: A legal opinion for City of Peoria Corporation Counsel Randy Ray:
Double parking is illegal.
Wow. That’s really going out on a limb.
Now, the challenge will be to find any example of any delivery van being given a ticket for double parking ANYWHERE and ANYTIME in downtown Peoria.
Or does the city of Peoria enforce the letter of the law for drivers of cars, but not commercial vehicles?
I’m willing to bet that there won’t be any such tickets issued, because the cries of outrage would be deafening. And voices with money behind them carry more weight than some guy pounding away at a keyboard.

What this city says and does are two different things. BTW, the two basketball hoops are on Ellis in plain view still. As for parking, well call a cop and nothing happens. Relate to this; local retailer has someone park in the handicap zone, security calls police to ticket, 45 minutes later, customer, two kids, walk out and leave. No cop. Never did show. Simple, they don’t give a $hit on small little calls. But this is America, so when a 450lb Harley biker pulled in and parked there security checked it. The bike had a handicap plate. One would think if you could hold up a bike like that at a stop light, you could walk 50 extra feet to the store.

define “parking”.
Unloading and parking are not the same thing.

Putting an auto in “Park” is parking.

What if it is a stick?

What difference does it make? The City Enforcement cars double park to give us a ticket…for double parking. That is no Bull S___ either.
