Peoria Pundit is on the air …

There wasn’t a Peoria City Council meeting this past week because of the July 4 holiday. Its just as well, because my laptop is fried and I won’t have it fixed or a replacement in place in time for this week’s event.

Not that I’ll be there anyway. I’ll be at the WEEK studio in East Peoria being interviewed LIVE for the station’s news program that airs at 9 p.m. on Channel 59. I hear they plan to interview certain other bloggers on other dates. I hope I’m asked about the things I blog about, rather than more questions about “that blog thing and how it works.” Yeesh.

Readers might recall that I had some advice for WEEK on how to make the 9 p.m. broadcast stand out from the others. I haven’t had an opportunity to see the newscast, but I hear they are fond of somewhat lengthy interviews with newsmakers. That would seem to go a long way to making this show a newscast for people who are fond of the news.

I suggest that you DOMINATE the interview, force it to deal with what YOU want to deal with.

DO NOT let the interviewer degrade it into the clueless, dumbed down, “Now what is a blog?” BS… it’s like “what is a business card?” or “what is a cell phone?” Sheeeeesh, the MSM ignorance is abominable.

No matter what they ask, supply the answer that best serves your needs, your message about what you’re doing with your blog specifically, not the Blogosphere in general, nor what blogs you like, or any of that junk.

Establish and maintain a position of absolute power, my friend.

so basically create news instead of merely being a part of it. Well, that does the ego good.
