Gaslight Square a moldy oldie?
September 14, 2006 in Overset Tags: apartments, housing, mold, peoria
I’m hearing that all but three units at the Gaslight Apartments on North University have been condemned because of mold and mildew caused by excessive water. Residents got the word today. Also, I’m hearing that the place is now owned by the government (state or Feds, I don’t know).
That means there’s a bunch of people looking for places to live as of right now.
My tipster says his source has been sick recently. I’m wondering if this isn’t just part of the Great Mold Scare.

Forgive the OT nature of this comment, but I want to congratulate you for being on TV the other night, speaking about blogs and the blogosphere.
My wife and I caught the last portion of it and were quite excited. You did a good job explaining things. I’m proud of you. Keep up the good fight.

One would have to ask themselves….where was Code Enforcement in all of this? Who condemed the buildings? Before or after it was so bad nothing could be done.

Code Enforcement; where were they? Good Question or better yet where have they been? A few years ago they came out because my long departed black/white common law married neighbors complained I had mosquitos. Couln’t find a single one.
Some might be interested in reading my blog on today’s JS article about the water company ownership and sale.
Also note that Bonnie Noble is talking to Park Board Members about my recent blog on alleged Executive Session tape erasures but Roger Allen has not come forward with his ususal statement about something true going on in the Peoria Park District , his ususal staement being “Nothing could be further than the truth……..”
HMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

I remember living there in the late 90’s on the third floor. One day, it was raining really hard, and my neighbor right below me stopped by. He asked if I there was water on my living room floor. I went over to the patio door and could see some water spots on the floor. It must have been seeping through the walls and running down his ceiling.
Nice place though. They fixed things pretty quick. The pool was filled with babes! Most people were nice, although some trouble-makers were there for a couple months.
