More arrests means there’s more being done

The Journal Star reports on the report that Peoria County is record a record number of felony arrests.

My two cents: Good.

Yeah, there’s more violent crime out there. But they are making arrests. The trick now is to get them through the court system, hopefully with the arrestees cooling their heals behind bars.

What obvious to me is that we needed to build a bigger jail than the one we have now. Until then, I’m down with Jerry Wolland’s idea to house non-violent offenders in tents during the summer.

But we need to seriously look at the idea of expanding the jail, as well as creating holding facilities in the City of Peoria.
