Press release: Progressive Peoria PAC Endorses Judge Powers

PEORIA, IL – The Progressive Peoria Political Action Committee, a subsidiary of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, announced its endorsement of Judge Michael J. Powers for the Third Appellate Court.“The Progressive Peoria PAC is pleased to endorse your candidacy for the 3rd District Appellate Court,” wrote Mike Wiesehan, chairman of Peoria Progessive PAC, in a letter to Judge Powers.
“We appreciate your involvement in public service to the community and look forward to working with you after the election,” continued Weisehan.
This is the latest in a series of major business endorsements for Powers. He also has been endorsed by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and Illinois Civil Justice League.

The son of a police officer, Judge Powers has served as Associate Judge in Will County since 2004. He is the only candidate for Third Appellate Court rated “Highly Qualified” by the Illinois State Bar Association. He is running for the seat currently held by 3rd Appellate Justice Kent Slater, who is retiring.
The Third Appellate District consists of 21 counties, stretching from Will, Kankakee and Iroquois counties on the eastern border of Illinois, along the I-80 corridor to the counties of Rock Island, Mercer, Henderson and Hancock on the western border. The seat of the Third Appellate District is in Ottawa, located in LaSalle County.
