Blog news: An entrepreneurial endeavor

January 15, 2007 in Advertising

In answer to several email queries, “YES.” River City T’s & Things is a project of mine and not some dude who bought a large ad. I’m always looking for ways to make some extra coin, and this seemed like a logical step. I’ve tossed together a few CafePress shops previously, and actually sold a t-shirt of two. The company is offering a free 15-day trial, and the cost per month is little more than the cost of a burger, fries and coke.

Some of the fine merchandise I’m offering now are things I’ve offered for sale before, but I’ve added some new stuff, most notedly shirts carrying the names of local high schools. I’m going to be adding new schools — including some that don’t officially exist anymore — as I go along. I’m certainly welcome to suggestions and will work with anyone looking to buy in bulk.

I also plan on creating new buttons with political and social messages. I’ve got one that fits my personal philosophy to a T.

In a way, I almost wish that the large ad I’m running was bought and paid for by someone else. ‘Cause an ad that huge usually runs for $150 per week.

Very nice sidebar ad, good design and content.

I have a lot of good ideas on blog related sayings for tee shirts, and even submitted my ideas to Tech Republic at one time. I’ll send you a list of blog and IT type sayings, in an email, if you wish.

    Here are a few:

“I’m going to blog about it and let the whole world know”

    “Ping Me”

    “Want my RSS feed?”

    “Only sissies avoid blogocombat”

    “Bloggers get more link love”

“If you don’t have a blog, I don’t want to know you”

“I wear flame resistant blogger pajamas”

    “Dan Ratherize the MSM!!!”

“My blog is about blogging. What’s yours about?”

  2. Scott J Says:

I may even buy the coffee mug.

  3. Emtronics Says:

    oh hum

  4. Billy Dennis Says:

Em: Did you mean “Ho hum”?

You ARE aware that if you order more than $50 in stuff before Feb. 13, you get FREE SHIPPING?

    That’s nothing to yawn over.

  5. Completely Oblivious Says:

Billy, does your “button” say, “Be Civil” on it. If not you should make a coffe mug that says, Be Civil or Be gone.

  6. 11Bravo Says:

I would almost be tempted to buy a shirt or mug that said “Hey Nice RSS” with the Peoria Pundit logo printed afterwards

  7. Eyebrows McGee Says:

Consider Zazzle. The quality is a lot higher than Cafe Press.

  8. Billy Dennis Says:

Eyebrows: THIS is what I love my commenters; The always come through with new and useful info. I had never heard of Zazzle. I checked it out and SO FAR it does seem very superior to CafePress.

    1. All products support transparent backgrounds, so no different image creation/uploading for light and dark products.

    2. With Zazzle, once ONE image is uploaded, the user can see the image on a huge variety of products.

    3. Support for 3X - 6x size shirts. Woo-Hoo!

    4. The site is much, much easier to work with than CafePress.
