Up to 8 inches of snow could fall tonight, providing Peoria with its biggest snow removal test since early December. With warmer temps this snow should be heavier than what we had last week. One can only hope it’s not preceded by freezing rain as was the December storm.

Do you believe the City of Peoria is ready for this storm?

No. But I do think David Haste is ready for some more overtime pay. Break out the Red Bull!

Has he saved up enough money to get a stove for his house yet?

Maybe we should have some discussion with the folks in upstate New York that have dealt with over 11 feet of snow. I notice that in all the news accounts from there – people dealt with it much better than they do around here.

Yahoo! News is promoting video of Obama telling about his former pot and cocaine use. Good move to get that out of the way early and make it a non-issue come election time.

I’d graciously stipulate that it was a non issue from the start. BDSers like Scotty will continue to call Bush a coke-head though…

Wo ho ho ho …. got my first full CILCO bill since the rate jump. $145 on the electric…. ouch. They are pushing that Customer Elect plan too trying to bilk you out of another 3.25% a year.

I got my bill today, too. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. But I was thinking worst-case scenario.

On the other hand, if you have a gas furnace, remember that winter isn’t when your electric bill will be the highest. It will be in the summer when you’re running the A/C. Be prepared to sweat a lot and live in your basement this summer to save money on the electric bill.

    Peoria Pundit Readers:

In honor of Black History Month, I am doing this opinion poll on leadership in Peoria’s African American Community. Please add your comments on the following:

    -Name a African-American community leader
    -State their (attempted) contribution
    -Grade their performance

I had this conversation with my ex-in-laws (who are Peoria natives), it didn’t last very long. Be candid, and Thanx.

How about Don Jackson, President of the state NAACP, attorney and public activist, very good; Erma Davis, former Director of Carver Center, excellent; Sharon Reed, Director of Fine Arts, District #150, excellent; and Sharon Kherat, principal Whittier Primary School, excellent; these are just a few . . .

    • PrairieCelt on February 12, 2007 at 5:24 pm

There’s Joe McDade, federal judge; very good, and his wife, Mary McDade, attorney, former BOE member, very good . . .

Anybody aware of the Robitussin Cough and Cold high that is going around high schools? It appears that teens are using a formula associated with individual weight to determine the number of pills needed to get to any one of four plateaus. #1-#2 are recreational, I’m not sure what the other two are for.

As I understand it, this has been around for 6-12 months?

    Anybody got any info?

    Thanks

  7. Paul Wilkinson on February 12, 2007 at 11:37 pm

actually the Robitussen thing and others similiar have been around for a long time. Detramathoriphan is the ingredient they are targeting. It’s the cough suppressant portion of these remidies. There is nothin new under the sun. Nyquil was also a good target due to its historically high alcohol content, which is now only about 10% oh and too much reaches a plateau of death by the way. Additionally if anyone is taking antidepressants and some anti anxiety drugs (eg: effexor or paxil) Detramathoriphan combined with this drugs can lead to death and is a dangerous combination.
