Correction: Election results posted earlier than I reported

By Billy Dennis

I took local news orgs to task for not getting election results on the Web by 10:30 p.m.

I received the following note from a WEEK newsie:

Actually if you go to our website and click on election results, you can see updated vote results as we get them. We started posting numbers on the web a little after eight. And before ten, we had 100% results for Peoria council and the Pekin races.
Try it in April.

And a commenter tells me WHOI had results posted earlier than I had reported. At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me if I missed others.

I apologize for the errors. My mistake, I think, was looking at their regular lists of stories for the day, rather than looking for special links that were set up in advance.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

The Journal Star had them up as well the night before. Check your facts next time.

I was in Chicago on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and spent quite a lot of time (up to 9:30 p.m.) trying to find the Peoria City Council election results. I couldn’t find any results until Wednesday morning. (And, yes I did vote before going out of town!)
