From a press release:

‘Wizard of Oz’ returns to big screen at the Apollo

A generation or two has probably never seen the Academy Award-winning musical “The Wizard of Oz” on the big screen, but MGM’s 1939 Technicolor classic is returning to Peoria April 13 and 14 for 7 p.m screenings.

Starring young Judy Garland as Dorothy, the song-filled fantasy is on the American Film Institute’s Top 100 movies.

From “Over the Rainbow” to “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead,” the Oscar-winning score is one of the most memorable in Hollywood history.

Co-stars ranging from Margaret Hamilton and Ray Bolger to Bert Lahr and Jack Haley help make L. Frank Baum’s book about a Kansas kid getting transported to a magical kingdom come alive.

Directed by Victor Fleming, it was produced by Mervyn LeRoy and assisted by King Vidor.

Besides free popcorn, moviegoers will be treated to “Yellow Brick Ice Cream” from the Spotted Cow.

Admission to the nonprofit Apollo is $5 and $4 for seniors and students.

thanks for the information. I love this movie!!! I wonder if someone will put “Wicked” on film someday?

I hope “Wicked” is indeed put to film, but only if it stars the luscious and talented Kristen Chenoweth. I loved her in Candide.

I love this movie. For those of you who have never met my sister, she’s the one the house fell on.

I took my kids to see the original “Star Wars” at the Apollo and it was so much.
Love the Apollo, but must admit, I hate the movie “The Wizard of Oz.” Maybe I’m crazy but I also hated “Forest Gump.”

Yes, Vonster, nobody will notice you are there.

Look up the etymology of the phrase “Friend of Dorothy”. Then you may apologize or just go away.

A rather unfortunate choice of words by Mr. Dennis, to be sure.

Vonster, you just don’t get it, anything.

    I’ll stay, thanks.

It’s OK, JW. You’re allowed to be an idiot here.
