Today’s news: Heating up

April 9, 2007 in The Wire

All links via the Journal Star:

  • As we get closer to Election Day in the city — April 17 — Word on the Street provides an interesting take on the alliances forming between the members of the Peoria City Council, Peoria Park Board and Peoria School Board.
  • The Journal Star has endorsed Dave Tebben in the race for Mayor of Pekin. This will no doubt please Edgar and Knight.
  • More gun shots and a fight outside the Elks Lodge on Southwest Jefferson. I wonder how long until the city tried to have it declared a nuisance property.

That’ll will never happen. It’s an all black lodge. An Elk Lodge no less. It is just a fluke that almost every black bar (an that lodge has a bar) are the scene of shootings and fights. oh hum

  2. Josh Carter Says:

Thanks Emtronics, I was wondering why the Elks lodge was having soo many problems, that explains it for the most part.-Statistically speaking.

  3. Laura Says:

The racism I have been hearing lately from even the most unlikely sources is quite disturbing.

Nothing to do with the Elks, but why the hell would you answer your door at 3 AM? If someone knocked on my door at 3 AM they had better called first and let me know they were coming or be greeted by mr. smith & mr. wesson.

  5. Emtronics Says:

I am sorry. I had it all wrong on the Elks. I guess when two mothers disagree on their son’s talent in a show, you simply pull a gun and shoot at the other mother, without worring about any of the 100 or so people around you. Geez….
