Some local linkage to give you all something do do on a Friday morning:
- Burl is a mite … ticked off, shall we say, about the
amnesty proposed for illegal aliens:
This bill would be a danger to American culture, and it sends the wrong message. 12 million
illegal immigrants would be given a get out of jail free card, and seeing as they broke the law, it isn’t right. This bill is a slap in the face to those who immigrated legally. They did the work to do it right, we owe them some respect. Giving those who took the easy road and came here illegally citizenship completely undermines the accomplishment legal immigrants made by immigrating to this country the right way. The illegals who are granted citizenship will then get the rest of their families to illegally immigrate to the United States, on the basis of “Hey we did it, and look, it worked out fine for us.” So now you have 12 million… i shudder to say this… legal citizens, bringing their friends into America illegally, which increases the number of illegal immigrants exponentially. - Morton Malaise is a mite … ticked off at the sense of entitlement youngsters feel these days:
I was sitting on the throne today at work, and I came across a letter in the OpEd section from a woman who objected to students @
Dunlap being rewarded for doing well on a test, while students that scored below a certain level didn’t get to go. She felt that these students were being punished when they were “trying just as hard.â€Are you ******* kidding me? This is the exact reason why we have millions of ****head spoiled pricks running around between the ages of 15 and 40. People that say things like, “I quit my job because my boss was always telling me what to do,†and “I’m not working for minimum wage when I can pop 3 kids and make more money off of welfare.â€
- Vaspers has a list.
- PeoriaIllinoisan is sick of the waste on Maplewood
- Jonathan Ahl has the scoop on new doctors, maybe, at the
University of Illinois College of Medicine in downtown Peoria:
Officials at
UICOMP are citing those statistics in hopes of getting the money necessary to increase the number of doctors it can train by 15%. That could mean good things for the area for several reasons, including the fact that a large number of med students that study here stay here for their residencies and later to practice when they are finished. It may be a long shot to get the go ahead from the main U of I people to do this. Some in the community have said for years that the Peoria campus is the black sheep of the U of I universe, and doesn’t get the funding it needs.
- C.J. has a reminder for misguided souls thing there’s still a change the
Surface Transportation Board will let them tear up theKellar Branch and build a trail: You lost. The feds said “no.” Period. End of story. Give up. Aint. Gonna. Happen. In other words, if you want a trail, build it along the existing rail line. - Pammy is contemplating Scott J’s cherry.

I still have a Cherry? Hey, if there is one to contemplate, I’m all for it.
Did you miss that electric rates are going to go UP AGAIN !!!!

Thanks for linking to my Some Sources Quoting Vaspers list, a bit of shameless self-abasement, er, promotion.
Spelling police: the word is “mite,” not “might.” I’ll let you off with a warning this time.
No CJ, Mites are hockey players, 7-8 years old. The Squirts are 9-10, Pee Wee 11-12, Bantam 13-14 and 15-18 are Midgets.
Hockey? Do they still play that sport in Peoria?
Jeepers, Bill, if I knew you were going to take an excerpt, I would’ve cleaned it up a little bit.
