Google and other such websites are just news aggregators. Not much original on them if any at all. There is an element of hypocrisy on the part of so many papers. Pull open any large circulation paper and you will see that a huge portion of their 'content' is simply aggregated too. Do papers do original reporting anymore when it comes to national or international news? The same could even be said for statewide news. Now granted the papers are paying to aggregate but then maybe that is part of their problem too. When you can read the same crap in dozens of papers or websites, why pay for their 'content'? It would seem that if papers want to survive they need to do more original reporting and then do their best to keep the content tightly controlled. The Wall Street Journal does a pretty good job at this.
