PJS reporter Molly Parker is hitting the road

June 28, 2007 in Watchdog Tags: , , ,

Molly Parker is not only “walking on sunshine” (an inside joke), she’s hitting the road, via Capitol Fax:

Peoria Journal-Star political reporter/columnist Molly Parker is moving on to a new job in Charleston, South Carolina. I’ve known Molly since she was a PAR intern at the Statehouse, and she has become a pal. If you’re near Peoria, there’s a party for her Friday [July 6] starting at 5:30 at Seven on Prospect in Peoria Heights.

I’m sad. I liked Molly from the moment I met her. She teams with Jennifer Davis on the Word on the Street column that appears every Monday in the PJS. I’m waiting to see whether or not Ms. Davis gets a new partner or it becomes a solo gig again. I’m not holding my breath, however, that GateHouse will let the PJS hire anyone to replace her. I dunno, perhaps they will give Peoria Times-Observer senior reporter DeWayne Bartels a shot at Molly’s beat, now that they are all part of the big happy GateHouse Media family.

UPDATE: Holy Crap! Brad Burke is leaving too! His last day is July 12. And he’s looking to sell his house. Damnation.

  1. Brad Burke Says:

Bill, I'm glad you posted this. It's been a joke in the newsroom all week that I got a note posted on the office bulletin board the day I announced my departure (coming July 12) and it took Molly a few days before her note went up. (That's what she gets for telling the boss the day before he leaves town.) Now, she gets the mention in the Peoria Pundit … and I don't. Ah, yes, the scales of justice tip Parker's way …

  2. cgiselle12 Says:

Good luck Molly! Cara(you too Brad, I just don't know you personally)
