The Dem field narrows in the 18th

Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin has announced that it’s an almost virtual certainty that he will not run for the 18th District seat in Congress being vacated by the retiring Ray LaHood. He says it would be too difficult to run and serve effectively as mayor.

So, who’s left in the field of Democratic hopefuls? Former State Rep. Bill Edley who is supposedly mulling a return to elected office. There’s also Peoria County State’s Attorney Kevin Lyons. I’ve heard Peoria attorney Patricia Benassi’s name mentioned. State Sen. John Sullivan from Rushville took himself out of the running several days ago.

Too bad the 18th is sooo republican, I’d love to see the old bulldog Edley bitch slap Aaron Schock in debates up and down the Illinois River Valley….
