The serfs are revolting at Kingspark

Yes, I’m fully aware of the residents’ insurrection at Kingspark Mobile Estates. Thank you to WEEK for covering the story.

I haven’t blogged about it because, well, for the same reasons that I don’t like to blog about work. Plus, I have never been able to attend any of the meetings and know the details only second hand. My second-shift job tends to get in the way of meetings.

Generally, my big concern is the lack of security. Our former security guy did an outstanding job of keeping the riff-raff out. This is a privately-owned property, and the facilities are for residents only, He used to have to run folks off the lot who later turned out to be drug dealers.

Conspiracy theories abound about what the owners are doing with all the money they are collecting. It certainly isn’t going into lot maintenance. It certainly isn’t going into keeping the water system running. And the lot management is spreading a top of misinformation about what rights residents have and do not have.  I’ll write about those in detail later.

Folks are getting educated quick, though, and many of us have the numbers of the Illinois Department Of Public Health and the  Secretary of State’s office on speed dial.

If it’s a privately owned property, can resources such as you have mentioned intervene?

You know, Bill, there’s more than one way to read that headline… :-)

It would seem you are receiving service commensurate with the amount charged. Move to one of those classy north side trailer parks get security and a cement pond too.
