Peoria City Hall refusing to defend taxpayers from PHA litterbugs
I am reprinting this entire post from Scott Janz’ blog. I’m sure he won’t mind:
I want to personally thank the PHA Resident who dumped their matress in my alley way. Sheldon over in Code Enforcement couldn’t be happier as I recieved yet another citation for garbage that the PHA residents are dumping on my property. OH, yea, and I found some used Crack Baggies the other day also. I called Sheldon, and never got a call back. It seems he is targeting my property for some reason. Anyway, I have called an Attorney. I wonder if you can sue the City, or PHA for property devaluation?
Anybody? Anybody?
Of course when I call PHA and explain to them that is was one of their Residents they argue with me. So, as of today, security cameras are now going up so I can start video tapping the garbage dumps in my back yard, and perhaps other activity.
Not enough, that I am dealing with some really stressful family issues, but now I have to run around picking up old used matresses because our City has no balls to call PHA and demand they pick up their own garbage.
I would burn it, but you can’t in Peoria city limits. How about I shove it up………..
I keep telling Scott to show up at a city council meeting to complain, since calling city hall doesn’t seem to help.

I had a visit from Sheldon as well; in my case it turned out ok; he worked with me and gave us extensions until our needed work could be completed.
Scott: do you personally know the PHA resident dumped the mattress? If you do,and get no resonsed from code violation, then call your councilperson. But you can just assume it is PHA residents who are dumping on your property. good luck!
RomanII,
I am going by a witness. However, I visit that property almost everyday. We have had a huge problem with drugs and breakins. Across the street is owner occupied homes. The house next door to me is vacant.
[...] made some phone calls. They did much better than I did. Also, thanks to Billy Dennis over at the Peoria Pundit for running my post. I also have a hunch that Paul Wilkenson had something to do with removal of the PHA garbage [...]
