Site issues: Back to basics

By Billy Dennis on September 16th, 2007

I’m experiencing some technical issues. I’ll be using the default theme for the time being. I’m pretty sure my next regular theme will be a smight SLIGHT modification of this one, anyway.

Update: I’ve settled on the X-Caliber theme, a modified version of the simple and elegant Kubrick, which moves the sidebar over to the left-hand side. I’m sticking with the single sidebar look, The drop-down menus for archives, blogrolls and pages helps keep it from getting too long. The one and only Google Adsense unit is now above the banner, where it supposedly will generate the most click-throughs, or so I am told.

I have decided to abandon any attempt to go with a design that put one “lead story” at the top of the front page, with single-paragraph links to others. I’ve had too many complaints, and where’s there’s smoke, there’s fire. I’m still going to look for a design that more resembles a news site, though.

And I’ve reinstalled the chat room.  I’ll keep it up as long as there’s no appreciable impact on load speeds.

Whatever that new theme was, I personally hated it. The double columns on the bottom…the fact that the “recent comments” only showed up about 1/3 the time…let it die.

  5. Thanks Billy !!!
This is much easier to read.

Billy, this is much better. Please stop messing around with your layout. How about you stick with this one for a while?
