The Chicago Cubs (that’s National League Central Division CHAMPION Chicago Cubs to you, CJ) clinched the NL Central tonight with a (finally) overpowering win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Coupled with the Milwaukee Brewers loss against the San Diego Padres, this drops the Cubs Magic Number to ZERO.
*I am sure BJ, CJ, KiD, and several other folks out there are about to begin telling us all WHY this doesn’t mean anything. Well, let them speak for where their teams were June 1 and where they are now. This sure as heck DOES mean something. Only eight teams have a chance to win the World Series, and the Cubs are one of them.

Congratulations. I’m a Cards fan, and I don’t want to see the Cubs in the World Series, let alone win it. But anything is possible at this point.

Cardinal fan will surely be here to tell you how they won the worst division in baseball, the pitching staff has holes, hitting is inconsistent…………just like last years Cardinal team!!! I’ve heard this from folks already.
It’s gonna be a wild ride. If you think this last few weeks was intense, it’s gonna be awesome!!!!
BTW, you REALLY need to get cable Bill. You missed some amazing games on TV this past month or so. It would be a shame to not be able to see Wrigley Field erupt after the NLCS win.

Rob B.: Last year’s Cardinals were the worst team I can remember St. Louis sending to the World Series (and since I’m in my early 50s, I can remember quite a few). But it doesn’t matter how you get there. If you win the World Series, you’re World Champion — even if you’re from the National League Central Division. Even if you’re the Cubs.
Hell, I hate the AL so much, I might root for the Cubs if they get that far.
