Politics: 18th District candidates on YouTube

Via Rich Miller’s Capitol Fax Blog, I found three videos for two of the candidates for the 18th District seat being vacated by Ray LaHood.

Here are two featuring current State Rep. Aaron Schock (R-92nd District):

and

as well as one featuring former Peoria City Council member John Morris:

Nothing from Jim McConoughey that I could find.

If bloggers and citizen journalists are holding politicians feet to the fire in ways that the mainstream media isn’t these days, then YouTube is letting politicians reach the citizens without filtering through the mainstream media’s inherent political and commercial biases, without the need for expensive advertising buys. It’s another thing that makes me less cynical about the political process.

And Rrich is reporting that his readers are liveblogging the legislature. Is this a great country or what?

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

They haven’t started yet. Hope they do soon.

So it’s better to have dozens of people giving their own opinions. Sure, it’s more voices but it’s also more clutter. Good for you
