Politics: Remembering Harold Washington

I had the pleasure of listening to This American Life’s profile of the late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington on the car radio today, and I intended to try to find a link so I could encourage others to listen to it. It’s a wonderful show and a particularly good episode. Thankfully, I found a post on Illinoize with all the appropriate links. Public radio rocks.

I listened in on that show today too. It was very good.

I agree that was a excellent program. I really liked the part where they played part of a debate and Mr. Washington answered like a regular person and Mr. Daley and Ms. Byrne answered like political robots. Public Radio Really does a super job. I am glad they named the Downtown Library in honor of Mayor Washington.

If you get a chance, read “Fire on the Prairie” by Gary Rivlin – great look into just how Washington’s victory shook the machine to its core.
