Allen Mayer is an attorney in Comptroller Dan Hynes office. I cannot think of any reason for the following other than an endorsement:

Mayer is facing Jehan Gordon in the Democratic primary. The winner will face Republican Cindy Ardis-Jenkins in the general election.
