Politics: Morris seeks votes at his alma mater, doesn’t get them

December 10, 2007 in Overset

John Morris, a graduate of George Washington University in Washington D.C., returned there briefly to speak to a group of students about his run for Congress. The student newspaper wrote a brief article on the visit. If Morris wins the primary and the general election he would be GW’s 19th member of Congress.

He is still metioning his intent to raise defense spending to become a greater percentage of the GDP (instead of federal budget). If that is his intent than the only way he could guarantee that over time is tax increases. So is Morris proposing a graduated defense tax that increases proportionately with the output of the economy?

I really wish someone from his campaign would clarify that, because I still think he is confused and means federal budget not GDP.

I think he means as a percentage of GDP.

Why don’t youy ask him instead of having another blogger “think” what he means?

Did he mention that the public television station where he is employed as the chief fundraiser is about to shut down because he didn’t hit the fundraising numbers required by a $10.6 million bond issue? Does he still work for a living or is he pontificating fulltime about wasting tax money on more military spending. Perhaps, if he had spent more time reading about Eisenhower’s military opinions and less time cheerleading at GW for right wing causes, he would understanding we can’t afford more money spent on another Pee Wee Herman military adventure.

Either I am missing something or the subject line of this blog entry is misleading…

It’s a bit of an in-joke. Morris is known for glad handling just about everybody, including young children who can’t vote.

Probably not the best headline, but I’ll stick with it.

  7. C. J. Summers Says:

RomanII — I called the Morris campaign office, and they verified that Morris indeed meant GDP, just as I “thought.” So there. :-P

Then next time use the secret code word ;)

  9. 11Bravo Says:

So that settles it, Morris is for raising taxes for military spending. Not sure I really agree with that.
