Politics: State police union endorses Schock
From a press release:
AARON SCHOCK ADDS LAW ENFORCEMENT ORGANIZATIONS AND SHERIFFS TO GROWING LIST OF ENDORSEMENTS
(PEORIA) The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Illinois State Lodge, the Illinois Police Benevolent and Protective Association and the Peoria Police Benevolent and Protective Association have endorsed Aaron Schock for Congress. The organizations are joined by the Sheriffs of six counties in the 18th District.
“This endorsement comes as a result of many factors that make Aaron Schock the best candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 18th District, none more so than he has earned a voting record in the Illinois House which is strong in supporting the FOP positions on important law enforcement issues. Aaron Schock has a proven record of advocating on behalf of those on the front lines of maintaining law and order in Illinois†read the endorsement of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police.
The six sheriffs endorsing Schock are joined by former Brown County Sheriff Michael Myers. The six sheriffs are: Logan County Sheriff Steve Nichols, Menard County Sheriff Larry Smith, Peoria County Sheriff Mike McCoy, Sangamon County Sheriff Neil Williamson, Schuyler County Sheriff Don Schieferdecker and Stark County Sheriff Jimmie Dison.
Many of these sheriffs said they rarely get involved in primary elections but they are stepping forward because of the depth of support they have for Aaron Schock.
“I am honored that these sheriffs and law enforcement organizations are willing to step up and make their voices heard in this election,†said Schock. “If I am elected to Congress, I intend to be a strong advocate on behalf of the work they do, just as I have done in the Illinois House.â€
