PeoriaPunditRadio: On the air
April 1, 2008 in Local Tags: China, Tibet
The show starts at 6 p.m. Central Time and can he heard here.
Call in at (347) 326-9459 and join the conversation. Remember, this is a LONG DISTANCE call, so if you are using an old-fashioned land line, you will be charged for each minute you use, unless you have one of those unlimited plans. Unfortunately, it’s not Sunday, so many cell-phone users will be charged for each minute they use). However, users of Vonage or other VIOP services might have to pay to use, too.
The topic of the day is “Tibet Vs. The Evil Empire” and is about the turmoil in Tibet, which is suffering under a crackdown by the authoritarian Chinese government. Some links:
- Here is Wikipedia’s Tibet history site, lays out the evidence that Tibet has a separate history and culture from China.
- Here is a pro-China propaganda site.
- And here is a pro-Tibet site with facts that seem more in line with, well, the facts.
- Over at Blargen blog, there’s a good post and a spirited debate about China.
- Here’s a Korea Times editorial on a possible boycott of the China Olympics. Meanwhile, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wants Bush to skip the opening ceremonies.
- Meanwhile, Caterpillar will triple its capital expenditures in China.
ALSO, I’m planning two 15-minute long episodes of Fibber McGee and Molly. The shows originally aired on Dec. 4 and 7 in 1953, toward the end of the show’s run, and after Johnson Wax stopped sponsoring them. I’ve also got a few classic commercials lined up.
