Local: FREE MULCH!

Stop the presses:

The City of Peoria will have a FREE MULCH give away on May 10, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the city’s Facility Operations Center, 3505 N. Dries Lane.

Mulch can be loaded into pick-up trucks, cars and vans at the Public Works facility, 3505 N. Dries Lane. A Loader will be available.

City crews will deliver mulch to Neighborhood Associations if arrangements are made in advance. To schedule a delivery, please call (309) 494-8851.

The Mulch is free for Peoria residents on a first come/first served basis.

    Why don’t they just save it, grind it, and then use it to mix with salt when they run out next winter? It’ll save on the sand.

    I don’t want to bemoan a good thing, and it’s a nice thing they do, but unless you like big chunks of wood that pass as mulch, you won’t like it. It’s good for what it is, but it’s not what you want to use to pretty up your front yard.

    There’s no such thing as free mulch.
