Politics: Bush puts American employees out of work

July 25, 2008 in Statehouse & Capitol

From a message set to me via Twitter:

Dude… The American Appliance/whatever store? Close due to the road closures for Bush’s arrival/departure. Irony much?

Heh. OK, the headline is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.

I was listing to WMBD radio’s coverage of President Bush’s arrival. I’m NOT accusing the reporters/announcers of being biased, but the whole thing just comes off as a day long advertisement for Aaron Schock. There’s nothing of substance to report, just that Bush is here, he was driven to Weaver Farms and he waved to some people and they are thrilled.

At one point, Greg Batten told listeners that there’s no official word yet on whether Bush plans to make any surprise visits anywhere.

Bill sez: “I’m NOT accusing the reporters/announcers of being biased, but the whole thing just comes off as a day long advertisement for Aaron Schock.”

I sez: No kidding. What did you think it was going to be? Same thing with Obama and his European fishing expedition. (You wonder if Obama is running for President of the U.S. or E.U.) As far as ‘hard news,’ there isn’t going to be any out of W’s sojourn to Peoria.

Bill also reports: “Greg Batten told listeners that there’s no official word yet on whether Bush plans to make any surprised visits anywhere.”

I sez: If they gave official word on a surprise visit, then it wouldn’t be a surprise, would it?
