Does anyone at the Journal Star even live in Peoria?
More directionally challenged journalism from Peoria’s one and only newspaper of record:
Watson was arrested about 11 a.m. after MEG agents conducted a controlled delivery of a package containing 2,300 grams of marijuana and two digital scales to an East Bluff residence at 1430 W. Willcox St.
Generally speaking, anything east of Knoxville Avenue is considered “East Bluff” (provided it isn’t too far north). Not only isn’t this address east of Knoxville, it isn’t east of North University. It’s more than a full mile away from the East Bluff.
And here’s a clue for the copy desk: If the address is on West ANYTHING, it’s not in the East Bluff.
Seriously, people.

Again, it’s annoying. Call the PJ Star and get a statement. Yes, in the big scheme of things it is not a big deal but really can the East Bluff get a break once in awhile. lol
I believe that the rule at the PJStar copy desk is if there is criminal activity, it must be the East Bluff.
Really – why do they need to include any directional Bluff in any story? They give the actual address. – really how would the story above suffer if they just omitted the bluff
Watson was arrested about 11 a.m. after MEG agents conducted a controlled delivery of a package containing 2,300 grams of marijuana and two digital scales to a residence at 1430 W. Willcox St.
That would be in the Sunset Hills neighborhood. And as long as we are getting directions straight, it’s not in the West Bluff either, too far north.
The continuous misdirection could really lead people to believe that crime is only in one or two parts of town (mainly the East Bluff).
PJStar.com fixed it. It now reads: ” . . . to a Central Peoria residence at 1430 W. Willcox Ave.”
Of course, the Journal Star print edition is still wrong.
For the record: The Journal Star copy desk has been cut to the bone.
