Blogger bust? Not really …
A grand total of eight people showed up for Blogger Bash. And they weren’t all there at the same time. The event lasted from 6 p.m. until I left at 10:30 p.m.
Why was attendance so light? I dunno. Competing events that tend to attract bloggers. A lack of marketing by ME this time around. The crappy economy. Who knows.
The conversation was good, and the companionship. I got to meet HipKat. He and the adorable Cristi from Peoria.com was there. Frequent commenter SHay was there, as was Precinct Committeeman. C.J. and Gary Sandberg showed up, as well as his son, Cosmic Colt (I’m going to interview him later about cool ideas he has for the Riverfront).
But I will schedule the next one for a Friday or Saturday night, probably in late July or early August. I am open to ideas for location.
The Bash was good for Whitey as he eight eight customers on a day that otherwise would have been very slow. He sold beers, sodas and four pizzas. I’m only sorry we couldn’t in more thirsty people

Somebody tell Billy where the fireworks are on the 4th.
Backstory: C.J. asked me if I was going to the fireworks on the Fourth.
I asked him: “Where are they at again?’
He found this hilarious.
In the past they’ve always been at the Riverfront. But so many different groups have tried to co-opt various fireworks celebrations, that when C.J. asked me, I had a question in my mind that one or more of them had been moved. In fact, I recall that they were trying to get the Peoria Park District to merge it’s July 3 celebration with the one that is now run jointly with East Peoria.
C.J. is smart, but he’s a jerk.
THPT!
And I will be joining my neighbors at the park to watch the fireworks. C.J. is not invited.
That darn work thing prevented me from being there. Next time, I’m asking off.
I only practice public drunkenness on the weekends.
Hey Billy, it was the East Peoria & Peoria 2 years ago for the first time. East Peoria used to have their own on the 4th at Eastside & Peoria had their own..now they are together.
Glen Oak’s are on the the 3rd…I haven’t heard them wanting to merge with anyone.
Thanks for the info “me.” I distincly remember several years ago there was talk about the “last” fireworks event ever to be held at Glen Oak Park.
Maybe Billy is thinking of the July 4, 2006 headline: “Glen Oak residents relish last fireworks.” Of course, that wasn’t about the park no longer having fireworks, but rather residents who were bought out by District 150 enjoying the fireworks for the last time in their home by the park….
Funny how everything turns back to District 150 eventually……
You just NOW figuring that out, Peoria Proud?
C.J.:It is entirely possible that was one of the things rattling around in my brain.
I thought it was a good time for my first blogger bash.
The best part is that Whitey’s is walking distance from my house.
Or a short bike ride!
(Yeah, I know. It moves around)
