Strange activity for an anti-tax Republican

Merle Widmer wants to know if Aaron Schock and the stimulus package will be used to bail out the museum project.

I find these non-priority requests in the process of being authorized by a Republican who is always hammering the Democrats for giving away our tax dollars as being more than interesting. I’m still waiting for the announcement of x-millions coming from the stimulus bill or some other bill, all taxpayers dollars, coming to Peoria to bail out the $17 million or more the Peoria Riverfront Museum shortfall.

Now, now, Merle. When other Congressman do it, it’s pork. When our guy does it, it’s called bringing home our fair share.

So everyone else should be entitled to porkulus funds except Peoria? Hasn’t Congress already “spent” the money whether we like it or not? If so, why not bring it home to the museum project?

    And the myopia continues….

I had that surgically corrected about 6 years ago.

Myopia: Would that include taking the positions that no one should use aluminum siding because on their own property because it violates YOUR personal aesthetic standards?

No, it would be more like a person who says, “Even though it’s the exact opposite of everything I believe in, I think we need universal health care.”

No. It’s actually the opposite of myopia. Myopia would be: “I don’t care that high health care costs are destroying the economy, I am ideologiclaly opposed to ’socialized medicine.’ —which is, I believe, YOUR position.

Maybe we can bailout IDOT and get some road projects funded, or maybe we can bailout Peoria County and get funding for their needs.

I see no contradiction in being opposed to spending money and then saying, “but if we’re going to spend, the way to spend is …”

I love false dichotomies, straw men and other debating weapons …

I also love Obama’s stand that we need to leave enemy countries alone even when they’re building nuclear weapons & actively threatening others (Iran) and yet tries to bully an allied country upholding it’s own constitution on order of it’s own supreme court (Honduras).
