Cutline: Kelli Watson of WEEK-TV in Peoria, Illinois, mispronounces a name on the air and the anchors make fun of her about it, causing her to start giggling uncontrollably on air.

Ic, this isn’t even the funniest Kelli Watson clip. When Pakistan held its elections she was anchoring and started off a story by saying “Pakistani ere… elections”. If you can find that clip, THAT would be awesome.
This was hardly my brightest moment but I was quickly told by two of my favorite mentors (who happened to be sitting at the anchor desk laughing hysterically in the background) that everyone in television news has at least one moment like this.
What people don’t see is that when you have a studio FULL of people who all simultaneously “lose their cool” it’s hard to re-gain your composure. It was a case of contagious hysterics that I don’ regret in the slightest. Despite a bit of embarrassment, it was one of the best laughs of my life amongst a family of co-workers whom I miss dearly today.
Kelli was (and is) probably the best new reporter to come through WEEK if not the whole Peoria TV market for several years regardless of the few goofs mentioned in this post.

Marcus Bailey of WMBD would never lose his cool like that on air.
Didn’t this happen like 2 or 3 years ago? Why post this now?
For God’s sake, it’s local news. They’re allowed to have a little fun. My favorite part was her struggling to say “69 degrees”.
“Why post this now?”
Cause I found it now.

She is adorable. I would have cracked up at the word “clematis”.

We have all had this happen!

I thought it was cute …
Seriously, I didn’t post to to embarrass anyone (OK, maybe a little) but this was a laughing WITH you moment, not a laughing AT you moment.
