A special meassage to birthers (UDATED)
The Earth is not flat.
Elvis is dead.
Paul is NOT dead.
Man did walk on the Moon.
George Bush did not conspire to blow up the World Trade Center.
And Barack Obama was born in the United States, is a citizen and is eligible to be president of the United States.
Period. End of story.
The evidence has been provided, and it is overwhelming and conclusive. It has been verified by multiple, unbiased sources.
Aaron Schock shouldn’t have to “assume” that Obama is telling the truth.
So, can we please stop with the “well, all he has to do is provide the evidence” bullcrap and get back to the business of governing, ‘kay?
Every minute you people spend promoting this nonsense is time spent NOT opposing Obama’s massive increase in government spending that will put your children and grandchildren in debt.
Here is the Democratic Party’s wet dream: Sarah Palin heads the GOP ticket in 2012, and she’s running on a birther platform.
Whatever short-term gains there are to this birther crap are not worth it. So knock it off.
UPDATE: Oh, Good Lord, these birthers are gullible idiots. Seriously, this nonsense just HAS to be an invention of Rahm Emmanuel to demolish the GOP. It just has to. All this humiliation cannot be accidental.
At this point, Schock will be wanting to burn a few birthers at the stake so that people will forget he willing to go along passively.

Michael Jackson,the-cop-the-professor-the-president,birthers,Sara Palin, etc. MSM at the worst and a country with totally wacko values.
Billy, haven’t you figured it out yet. The G.O.P. only uses “fiscal responsibility” to keep ordinary folks from getting services to help make their lives easier. The G.O.P. is the party that thinks a 1.8 trillion dollar tax cut for the wealthiest one percent is responsible, but a 787 billion dollar stimulus is the worst thing ever. Here is a chart that shows the unvarnished story of politics and the national debt. Go to http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/02/debt-10-trillion/
Billy, what has got you on this kick? The reporter from your previous video clip stalked legislators and shoved a microphone in front of their face. What are they supposed to say? I’m sure they haven’t devoted every waking moment to studying Obama’s birth certificate. Schock and most everyone else responded with the pat answer that is code for “I don’t have all the facts you are asking the wrong person now leave me the flip alone”. In fact, Obama would have served himself well if he had used a similar technique at his health care press conference last week.
To paraphrase your own words: Every minute you spend worrying about this nonsense is time spent NOT opposing Obama’s massive increase in government spending that will put your children and grandchildren in debt. ( I corrected your typos- your welcome.)
Diane: I’m on a kick about the birthers because they are a symptom of what’s wrong with the United States in which everyone is on attack mode all the time, and the two big parties are dominated by their wacko wing. It isn’t just that compromise is criticized as capitulation or “flip flopping.” I am sick of this sort of wing-nut stuff being considered legitimate strategy.
Also: What would I like to see from Peoria’s one and only U.S. Congressman? How about a definitive statement denouncing the birther movement and demanding that those practicing it IN CO)NGRESS get back to the business of government. As so many have said, there’s plenty of staff going on to complain about.
I feel pretty plugged into the political scene and you are the only one I know that is talking about it.
As long as homo-sapiens walk the earth there will be fringe loons and conspiracy theories. Can’t get away from it. Ignoring would be the best course of action in my objective opinion.

State officials in Hawaii on Monday said they have once again checked and confirmed that President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen, and therefore meets a key constitutional requirement for being president.
They hoped to stem a recent surge in the number of inquiries about Obama’s birthplace.
“I … have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen,” Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said in a brief statement. “I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago.”
So-called “birthers” — who claim Obama is ineligible to be president because, they argue, he was actually born outside the United States — have grown more vocal recently on blogs and television news shows.
Great. What does that have to do with Schock? My point is that you are making a story here where there is no story. Exactly what you are accusing the “birthers” of.
Diane said:
Maybe you were trying to be ironic, but that should be “you’re welcome” — as in “you are welcome.” “Your” is possessive.
I did think that looked strange when I typed it. Hah!
Diane also said:
Except for that AP story that Billy just quoted that’s being reprinted around the nation. And except for this blog entry from U.S. News & World Report. And except for this Los Angeles Times article interviewing the president of CNN about it.
Oh, and this blog entry from the Wall Street Journal.
Nope, there’s no story. Diane hasn’t heard about it yet, so it doesn’t exist.
This story is all over the place, as C.J. said, and I for one hope the idiotic wing of the GOP keeps it up. It’s ridiculously stupid, and we on the left are now smugly sitting back and laughing at it.
BTW, Jon Stewart did a GREAT piece blasting Lou Dobbs, who, on July 20th, questioned the president’s “birthplace” and wanted to know why “the administration hasn’t addressed this.” Unfortunately for Lou, his OWN SHOW debunked the birthers just three days earlier on July 17th, when a guest host ran through the details of all the proof that’s been shown already on behalf of the President. Jon made Dobbs look like a complete loon (as if that was hard).
It would be nice if Schock would simply say he thinks this birth story is full of crap and he doesn’t believe it but he and other GOPs don’t do that and thus it grows in the wingnuts head. It was like when the Dems were saying Bush didn’t serve in the National Guard (in person). Boy the GOP was all over that making any DEM apologize if they gave the story any credence. Keep it up GOP, we need this in 2010 and 2012 and I hope Palin is right there leading the way.
BTW, MSNBC sent out a correspondent to interview members of Congress (GOP) on whether they thought Obama was a US citizen. Some would not answer, some said there are questions and only one said it was crap.
The problem is that people don’t want to take someone else’s word for it, and they would like to see the irrefutable evidence themselves without the filter of people who have their own political agenda.
What is the big deal about releasing the original birth certificate? Release the school records. I don’t understand the secrecy. It just makes the more extreme silliness more credible.
Conservative National Review Online’s editorial today pretty much demolishes the “birthers.” And did you see Geraldo on Fox Saturday? Ann Coulter is not a “birther.”
Diane, this is NOT the first time Congressman Schock has been asked this question. Stephen Colbert asked this question in an April broadcast, and Congressman Schock sidestepped the question. You do remember that don’t you. I believe you said “Schock rocked!” This was a no-brainer. Schock won the district by 55,000 votes. He is not going to be punished by the “birthers” in the Eighteenth. He either believes it, or he is dependent upon the D.C. lobbyist money, or perhaps he fears the loss of his whip position. Check out this article about Eric Cantor, who Schock quoted at length on his site while running for election. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0709/25471.html
I agree with you about “fringe loons” and the ilk. Congresswoman Bachman (R Minn) is a fine example. Remember the Clinton years, you know the President and Mrs. Clinton had Vince Foster killed. I could go on and on, but it would just be “republican bashing.”
This is a news story because the 18th district likes to claim its representatives are independent moderates, and the young man is the annointed “future of the Republican party.”
I’m with you on this one, Billy. I can’t help but think some of this has a racial underpinning.
I’m white guy. The town I lived in until I was 12 had zero blacks. The high school I graduated from had between one and two black students (brother and sister) out of 750 the entire four years I was there. I must admit that I have not always been the most racially tolerant person.
I don’t know if Obama will be a great president. But I voted for him, and I wish him luck. His election says a lot about the best things our country stands for.
Schock hasn’t been going around bringing up this subject at all. When ambushed by a reporter he didn’t give him the time of day on this. So he hasn’t been taking any time focusing on this nut job conspiracy theory at the expense of real life issues. If a Congressman issues a statement to debunk every rumor or myth in this country, that’s all he or she would be doing.
Regarding 911: Buildings do not demolish so quickly and cleanly unless explosives were planted. Many leading university physics professors agree. This remains an open issue. 911 was an inside job.
Regarding Obama’s birth certificate: I agree, who cares? Maybe near the end of Obama’s second term will it be proven that Obama was NOT born in the USA. This is significant, as this would allow Arnie Schwartzenegger to run for president. Arnie wants to become the next Ronald Reagan…………
Health care “reform” is worthless if the proposed legislation does not bring the greedy health insurance companies to their knees. HMOs are the cause of these problems. Just ask any doctor.
Actually he was asked earlier by Stephen Colbert, months ago. Schock decided not to offend the lunatic fringe. In Billy’s earlier post, Congressman Schock once again sidesteps the issue. Congressman Schock was asked again go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib74sVFDtTs and the third time was not the charm See our Congressman at approx 3:10. Now Mike Pence and Peter King had absolutely no problem answering this simple question.
This is a story because we have Eric Cantor, the GOP whip embracing the lunatic fringe. Roy Blunt the former whip get into bed with the crackpots, and as the video shows the number four Republican also evading the simple question. This question is on the par with “Do you think Rod Blagojevich is a crook?” This should be a no brainer.
This is standard operating procedure for republicans. In 1988, Steve Symms said he had a photo of Kitty Dukakis burning an American flag. During the 1990’s it was Bill Clinton renouncing his American citizenship in Moscow and killing Vince Foster with the help of Hillary. In 2000, it was Al Gore had sold nuclear secrets to China in exchange for campaign contributions. In 2004, it was John Kerry didn’t deserve his medals for his service in Vietnam. In 2008, it was candidate Schock starting the “Obama as socialist” smear. In 2009, Obama was really born in Kenya.
Abe Lincoln must be rolling in his grave.
In an effort to be “fair and balanced,” I will direct you to a “positive” piece of hard hitting journalism about our “superstar” Congressman. Enjoy this story http://thehill.com/cover-stories/the-hills-50-most-beautiful-2009-2009-07-28.html
Obama was born in the USA and is a citizen…he is also a socialist. Just look up the definition and compare to his policies.
Well Pop, you’ve convinced me. Obama is a Socialist. That must be why well known Socialists like Colin Powell, Susan Eisenhower, julie Nixon Eisenhower, Arne Carlson the former governor of Minnesota, Lincoln Chaffee of Rhode Island, Jim Leach of wildly socialistic Iowa, and Ken Adelman an adviser to that well known Socialist Ronald Reagan all endorsed Obama in 2008. Of course giving bailout money to Wall St. is classical socialist doctrine to elevate the working class.
The problem with the G.O.P. is that it is the party of kow-towing to the extremists. Terri Schiavo, Sarah Palin, the anti-evolutionists,etc.
See Pop, I refuse to drink the Kool-aid because I think that pro wresting is fake and the moon landings were real, and NOT the other way around.
Our Congressman who won by 55,000 votes last time, who’ll have a huge money advantage again this time and he represents a district that hasn’t elected a Democrat to Congress since the Wilson administration, didn’t have to kow-tow to the birthers, but he did. He’s had three times to answer the question.
Bad News:
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=105764
So a piece of paper that an avowed birther claims to have received from Kenya that has been verified by World net Daily LOOKING at it is valid, but the official document from the state of Hawaii that’s been authenticated Fact Check and others is fake… Gotcha. Oh, and those two separate birth announcements in newspapers are fake two, huh? Because they knew when Obama was born, that they wanted to sneak him into the white house.
I am amazed that you don’t realize how stupid you look.
From the “Can it get any sillier file,” Barack Hussein Obama equals the Anti-Christ in Hebrew ( not the actual title) is being disseminated via WND and You-Tube. I won’t link it. Those who want to find it can easily.
Note to birthers: Keep it up! Put up the good fight! Don’t let ‘em tell you to stop!
(snicker, snicker, snicker all the way home)
The whole left vs. right thing has become thoroughly foolish and distracting. Has either party done anything in the last 50 years but grow our government to an unwieldy size, reduce our personal rights and spend the blood of our young men and women without cause? Do you, in your heart of hearts, really trust *any* of them…with your personal finances or the future of your children? Really? I know I don’t. They’re “nothing more nor less than a bandit gang writ large.”
So instead of calling our “leaders” into account, we act like we’re cheering for our favorite college football team while hurling meaningless insults at our team’s rivals. But we’re all going down together, people, left, right, middle…all of us. And these silly issues do nothing but distract us from the growing reality of the decline of our nation.
I will not drink cool-aid again, regardless of its source.
Hurrah for Priorities. You go it right!
