Schmooze with LaHood for the low, low price of $125
Via the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Website:
We are excited to bring U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, Caterpillar CEO and PhD Economist Jim Owens, and The Heartland Partnership President/CEO Jim McConoughey together to share their thoughts and views on our economy. These three have intimate knowledge of this region and they know how global and national happenings can affect us. They will be discussing our economic situation, our road to recovery, and what they see in their travels and daily work that could indicate what lies ahead for Central Illinois.
‘The Insider’s View—Our Road To Recovery” will be aired online in mid-September but you can be one of the limited few to see the live taping before it’s edited for air. There are only 100 seats available for the live taping on August 27th 10:00am (doors open at 9:30) at WTVP studios in Peoria.
Reserve your seat immediately because we will be opening ticket sales to the general public starting August 10th. The tickets are $125 each …
I don’t think LaHood is profiting from this. It’s just a question of access. If you have $125 in your wallet, you get access. And if you think everyone is going to attend this only because they want to learn about the economy, you are being naive. People will attend because they want to get something out of the government.

It looks to me like the access is being limited because it’s a television taping, not because of LaHood.
