Culver benefits Boy Scouts of America

FUNDRAISER HELD AT ALL TEN LOCAL CULVER RESTAURANTS FOR THE 100 BOY SCOUTS ATTENDING THE 2010 NATIONAL JAMBOREE

PEORIA – On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. come join the W. D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America Jamboree Contingent for its Culver’s Night. This Culver’s night will assist the 100 young men with the financial requirement needed to attend the National Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, VA in July 2010.

This group of young men has been trying to live by the 9th Scout Law which states “A Scout is Thrifty” and earns their own way by holding various fundraiser events in the area. They have held other Culver’s Night events, along with Bergner’s Community Day event coupon book sales, and the annual Boy Scout Product sale.

The 100 Boy Scouts have earned rank and merit badges to be eligible to attend the 2010 Jamboree and has hope the community will come in support this event. This trip will further the Scout’s knowledge of the “Scouting Way” and will help them learn all Scouting has to offer. It will also provide Scouts with an opportunity to enhance their skills in leadership and real life career training. Jamboree has a wide variety of activities that introduces these young men to real life career or hobby possibilities. All 121 Merit Badges will be available for them to earn as well as area activities. For more information go to http://www.scouting.org/jamboree.aspx. The W. D. Boyce Council is the Peoria Office of the Boy Scouts of America located on Madison Avenue near downtown. The office currently serves over 13,354 kids in 14 counties spread across Central Illinois. The W. D. Boyce Council is divided into four districts – Crossroads, Heartland, Lowenau, and Wotomalo, which all serve their own counties in Central Illinois. ScoutREACH is the council’s fifth district devoted to reaching youth of all circumstances from within the Council.
